As the former head gardener at Alyeska Resort, Himalayan Blue Poppy had to be the most asked about flower by our out-of-state guests. This is just one of many plants from the Himalayas that grow very well in our climate. Primula florindae, P. alpicola, P. Denticulata are so commonplace in the Anchorage garden we no longer give a thought to their place of origin. These are just the tip of the iceberg. What will be the next new perennial and who is out there looking?
There are a few of us out there and we can be found at Farmers Markets, perennial plant sales and events like Alaska Botanical Garden's "Boreal Garden and Arts Fair". Please stop by and check us out. We can use your support. You never know what you will find.
For dates and locations on where I can be found check out my Events page.

My goal is to seek out hardy perennials not commonly available to the Anchorage market. Just check out my selection of primrose. All grown from seed right here in Glacier City (Girdwood, Alaska). Other Alaska grown perennials will include Meconopsis "Lingholm",Trollius "New Moon", Thalictrum" Illuminator", Polemonium "Purple Rain" etc. In addition to perennials I have a small selection of hanging baskets. As you can see here there is no wasted space in the greenhouse.

Pictured on the right - left over hanging baskets wind up staying on our front porch.
